Philip Leevers is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, painting school.
After teaching art for several years, he worked as a ceramist, selling through Casson Gallery, Cecilia Colman Gallery, and Liberty’s in London. He specialised in large decorative plates that depicted landscapes, often drawing straight onto the plates in the open air.
Returning to paint in oils, his work was shown at the Royal Academy summer exhibitions and at the Blackheath Gallery in London.
In 2003 he moved to Dorset, later settling at his current studio at Bull Mill on the River Wylye. Over the past few years he has exhibited regularly at group shows in Dorset, and had a solo exhibition at Shaftesbury Arts Centre in August 2014.
Woodland landscapes – particularly those surrounding my riverside studio in Wiltshire – provide the starting point for recent work.
